Shane Mauss on Saturday: The Deepest Conversation, Then the Funniest Show
On Saturday, April 4, Shane Mauss joins Pastor Dave Hodges for a headliner conversation on the Hero’s Journey and high-dose psychedelic experience. That evening he performs TRIPS: Third Dose at Humanist Hall. His new special TRIPS: First Dose just premiered. Two tickets for the full Saturday. Both are worth it.
When Shane Mauss says he has spent the last decade at the intersection of comedy, neuroscience, and psychedelics, that is not a pitch. It is a description of an actual decade.
Four hundred scientists interviewed on his Here We Are podcast. A MAPS-sponsored national solo tour called A Good Trip. Comedy Central’s Tales From the Trip. An Amazon documentary, Psychonautics: A Comic’s Exploration of Psychedelics. Appearances on Conan, Netflix, and stages across the country.
And now TRIPS: First Dose, his new special filmed at Meow Wolf in Denver with 360-degree visuals from 20 psychedelic artists. It premiered March 3, 2026. If you have not seen it yet, that is your pre-SB6 homework.
On Saturday, April 4, he brings all of it to Oakland.
The Afternoon: The Hero’s Journey & Beyond
Shane Mauss joins Pastor Dave Hodges for the Saturday headliner conversation: “The Hero’s Journey & Beyond.”
This is not a panel where two people politely agree with each other. Both Dave and Shane have gone deep into high-dose territory. Both have thought hard about what it does to you, what you owe to others when you guide them there, and what comes after the archetypal peak experience when the journey framework does not fully account for what you are carrying.
The Hero’s Journey is one of the most overused frameworks in psychedelic culture. It is also, when applied carefully, one of the most honest maps available. This conversation is about what the map misses: the responsibilities, the integration, the shadow work, the long aftermath of transformation that is harder to talk about than the peak.
This is the afternoon you will be thinking about on Sunday morning.
The Evening: TRIPS: Third Dose
At 8pm Saturday, Shane Mauss performs TRIPS: Third Dose at Humanist Hall.
TRIPS is a comedy series built specifically around psychedelic experience. The live installment, at the venue where he just spent an afternoon in one of the most substantive conversations of the weekend.
The contrast is intentional and earned. One version of Shane Mauss meets you in the afternoon for a serious, open-hearted conversation about where psychedelics can take you. The other version shows up at 8pm and makes the whole thing hilarious. Both are him. Both are real.
Separate ticket required.
