How to become a member of the Church of Ambrosia.
Join the Church of Ambrosia
The online application to join the Church of Ambrosia is free. Membership is $5 a month, paid in person at Zide Door. No one is turned away for inability to pay.
Joining is not a transaction. It is an act of intention: a statement that you approach these sacraments with respect, that you are part of this community, and that you take your spiritual practice seriously.
What Membership Means
Being a member of the Church of Ambrosia is a covenant: a statement that you share certain values, that you approach these sacraments with sincere intention, and that you are part of this community.
You join 137,000+ people worldwide who share a conviction that entheogenic plants are sacred, that direct experience of the divine is a right, and that access to these sacraments should be protected.
Spiritually, membership connects you to an unbroken lineage going back to humanity’s first entheogenic practice. The Church of Ambrosia holds that the original spiritual tradition of our species was built on these sacraments, and that joining the Church means reconnecting to that tradition, not starting something new.
Practically, membership gives you access to entheogenic sacraments at Zide Door in Oakland as part of your religious practice. It also connects you to the Church’s accumulated body of education, community, and support.
Our Values
The Church of Ambrosia is grounded in what the Book of Ambrosia calls the Six Divine Rights: not rules imposed from outside, but primordial entitlements that members recognize and uphold for themselves and for each other.
- Sustenance and Shelter: Every person deserves the basics required for dignity.
- Security: Every person deserves to be safe.
- Health Care: Every person deserves access to healing.
- Liberty and Bodily Autonomy: Every person has the right to choose what they do with their own body, including which sacred plants and rituals they engage with.
- Self-Actualization: Every person has the right to become who they are meant to be.
- Dignity and Respect: Every person deserves to be treated as fully human.
These are not privileges granted by governments or institutions. They are woven into the nature of what it means to be a human being. Members of the Church of Ambrosia recognize this in themselves and in everyone they encounter.
Beyond that, we ask four things:
Sincerity. Approach the sacraments with genuine spiritual intent.
Respect. For the sacraments, the community, and each person’s individual path.
Responsibility. Take your own preparation seriously. Use the education available to you. Approach high-dose work with care.
Non-imposition. Your path is yours. Don’t force healing on anyone who hasn’t asked for it. Each person’s journey is their own.
Who Can Join
Membership is open to any adult (18+) who sincerely shares our values. You do not need to:
- Be from California or even the United States
- Hold any prior spiritual or religious beliefs
- Have prior experience with entheogenic plants
- Identify with any religion or tradition
You do need to:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Complete the online application honestly
- Visit Zide Door in Oakland in person to complete your membership
- Approach the sacraments with sincere spiritual intention
How to Join
Step 1: Apply online
Complete the free membership application at zidedoor.com/apply-to-join. You will need valid government-issued photo ID.
Step 2: Visit Zide Door
Come to Zide Door at 1216 10th Ave, Oakland, CA 94606. New members must arrive before 9:30pm. Open every day.
Step 3: Complete your membership
You will complete your in-person joining process at the door. Membership is $5 a month, paid in cash. We waive the fee for anyone who cannot afford it.
That’s it. You are now a member of the world’s largest psychedelic church.
A Note on Remote Membership
The Church of Ambrosia has members around the world. If you are not local to Oakland, you are still welcome to join the community, engage with our educational content, follow our theology, and participate in events like Spirituality & Beyond. Physical access to sacraments at Zide Door requires an in-person visit to Oakland.
The Church of Ambrosia does not ship or mail sacraments. All sacrament access is in person only.
