As the largest psychedelic church in the world, The Church of Ambrosia encourages its members to use these sacred tools responsibly. The biggest concern of the Church is that people use these important spiritual tools as safely as possible. Psilocybin mushrooms should never under any circumstance be used while taking psychiatric medications, alcohol, or drugs of any kind.
TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU TAKE PSILOCYBIN WITH ANY PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATIONS. IF YOU HAVE ANY HEALTH CONDITIONS, SPEAK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU CONSUME PSILOCYBIN. PEOPLE WITH HEART ISSUES OR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE NEED TO BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS.
HEART TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS:
If you have a heart transplant, DO NOT DO MUSHROOMS! An article from 2012 described the death of a 24 year old heart transplant patient. The official cause of her death was described as “excessive sympathetic stimulation of the transplanted heart”. The high concentration of psilocybin in her blood is thought to have contributed to her death. Do not do mushrooms if you have a heart transplant. Click on the link below for more information.
MOOD STABILIZERS & Antipsychotic Medication:
It is not good to mix MOOD STABILIZERS or any antipsychotic medication with psilocybin. Violent episodes, including aggression towards the sitters, as well as harm to the user and surroundings have been reported.
Unfortunately, individuals with bipolar depression may attempt to treat themselves with psychedelics while on a mood stabilizer, particularly given enthusiastic media reports of the efficacy of psilocybin for depression. NEVER TAKE psilocybin while on mood stabilizers or any type of antipsychotic medication.
A study that analyzed reports of classic psychedelics administered with mood stabilizers from three websites (Erowid.org, Shroomery.org, and Reddit.com), showed psychedelic use with lithium included seizures, increased the need for medical attention, and resulted in a higher likelihood of bad trips.
SSRI/SNRI CLASS DRUGS AND PSILOCYBIN
SSRI class drugs tend to lessen the effects of PSILOCYBIN. Click the link below to read a study that explains this drug interaction in more detail.
MAOI DRUGS AND PSILOCYBIN
MAOIs tend to generally increase the effects of PSILOCYBIN. MAOI drugs inhibit the body from breaking down neurotransmitters, making the impact of many psychedelics more intense. The common ceremonial entheogen ayahuasca is a mix of both DMT containing plants and plants that contain MAOIs, making the ayahuasca experience that lasts much longer than a DMT experience. This is due to the presence of MAOIs.
