DMT as Sacrament

The spirit molecule and its role in sacred practice.

DMT (N,N-Dimethyltryptamine) is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in various plants and animals. It is the active ingredient in Ayahuasca, used in traditional South American spiritual and ceremonial practice for centuries. The Church of Ambrosia offers DMT as a sacrament to members, available in crystal and vape form.

DMT opens the same spiritual space as a high-dose psilocybin experience. The difference is time: where mushrooms last four or more hours, DMT’s effects when smoked or vaporized peak within 5 to 15 minutes. This brevity does not make it less powerful. It makes preparation and intention more essential, not less.

How We Use DMT

How We Use DMT

The Church of Ambrosia uses DMT primarily in combination with psilocybin mushrooms as part of breakthrough ceremony work at God’s Sitters. The approach: begin with a conservative mushroom dose calibrated by our dosage calculator. If a member is not reaching the depth of experience they are seeking, a single hit from a DMT vape pen can carry them the rest of the way. The breakthrough then lasts as long as the mushrooms remain active.

This combination is powerful. It should not be approached casually. It is not for solo use. It is not for beginners. Use it with a trained guide, clear intention, and proper preparation.

What Is DMT?

What Is DMT?

DMT appears in nature and in the human body. It has been detected in trace amounts in human blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid. When consumed, it produces experiences that many describe as more real than waking life: contact with entities, travel to other dimensions, complete dissolution of the sense of self.

It is available at Zide Door in crystal form and as a vape pen. Crystal DMT is typically smoked or vaporized through a pipe, bong, or dab rig with a temperature gauge. Direct flame degrades DMT: vaporization preserves potency. Vape pens offer a more controlled and accessible delivery method.

Do not inject DMT or psilocybin.

Effects

Effects

When smoked or vaporized, effects begin almost instantly. The experience typically lasts 5 to 15 minutes at peak, with a rapid return to baseline.

Lower doses may produce mild perceptual changes: enhanced colors, subtle visual shifts, a feeling of presence.

Higher doses can produce:

  • Visions of alternate realms or dimensions
  • Contact with entities that feel entirely separate from ordinary reality
  • Complete ego dissolution: loss of the sense of self, identity, and connection to time and space
  • Full detachment from physical reality, often described as profoundly transformative

After the peak, residual effects may linger briefly. Some people report short additional waves during the comedown.

Dosage

Dosage

Smoked or vaporized: 10-100mg. Precise measurement is strongly recommended.

Vape pen: Effects vary based on draw depth, duration, and lung retention. Two to three deep hits typically produce the full breakthrough experience.

Oral (Ayahuasca): Requires a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Without it, orally ingested DMT is broken down before it takes effect. Onset is 20-60 minutes; duration 2-6 hours. Ayahuasca should only be taken under the guidance of an experienced facilitator or shaman.

Combining DMT and Psilocybin

Combining DMT and Psilocybin

DMT and psilocybin are chemically similar and act on the same receptors. When combined, their effects amplify significantly. A mild mushroom experience can become a full breakthrough lasting hours. This is not a casual experiment. It is one of the most intense experiences available through entheogenic practice.

If you choose to combine them: start with very low doses of both. Have a trained guide present. Do not do this alone.

Overuse builds rapid tolerance. DMT and psilocybin tolerance affect each other. Take tolerance breaks between sessions.

Safety

Safety

Set and setting are essential.

Mindset: Your mental state, emotions, and expectations before taking DMT shape the experience. Come prepared. Come intentional. Do not take DMT in a distressed state.

Setting: A safe, calm, supportive space with trusted people reduces the risk of panic or distress. For first experiences, the presence of a trained guide is strongly recommended. God’s Sitters can help: godssitters.com.

Health precautions:

  • Avoid DMT if you or your family have a history of mood disorders, psychosis, heart issues, or seizures
  • Those on antidepressants (SSRIs or MAOIs) face risk of serious interaction, including serotonin syndrome
  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not drive or operate machinery
  • Do not mix with alcohol

If you have questions about DMT and any medications you take, see our Health Conditions and Medications guide.
